These are by far the 10 most powerful tools and foods that I recommend you take advantage of to achieve great health, natural healing/bodily regeneration, a slimmer body and abundant energy. I use these every day and they are my not-so-secret weapons to looking youthful, feeling great and staying fit and healthy. I challenge you to try them and see how they transform your life and health.
1. Wheatgrass Juice Powder
Packed full of vitamins, minerals, plant enzymes and amino acid proteins this nutritional powerhouse is known as nature’s riches superfood. It closely resembles the molecules of human red blood cells and is therefore a great blood builder, cleanser and alkalizer. Try a teaspoon in a pint of water first thing in the morning and watch your energy soar. It’s widely known for its anti-ageing properties, is great of clear skin and has been used extensively to treat cancer and other serious diseases at various centres around the world. It’s a great anti-bacterial, helps prevent tooth decay and can stop your hair going grey. I have been drinking it for 10 years and can certainly attest to its benefits. Amazing Grass is a good organic brand that’s easy to find.
If you’re in the UK and want freshly juiced and flash frozen wheatgrass juice – delivered right to your door, check out Live Wheatgrass.
2. Blender
Whether it’s a cheap smoothie-maker or a Vitamix high-speed unit, you absolutely need a blender of some kind to make quick and super-nutritious smoothies. Adding a green smoothie to your day will reap benefits – they’re great for weight loss, healing, beautiful skin, bright eyes, shiny hair and sustained energy. I’d recommend a NutriBullet or a Bravit for an inexpensive personal blender with travel cup. At some point though, you may want to invest in a more pricey high-speed blender like a Vitamix, which will produce ice cream from frozen fruit and even make warm soups and juices.
3. Buckwheat & Bulgar Wheat
Whole grains are a great staple to include towards a more plant-based alkaline diet. Buckwheat (gluten-free) and bulgar wheat (contains gluten) are my two favourites and are quick to cook, highly nutritious and very cheap, especially by buying in bulk online. There are many other grains that are gluten-free, such as millet, brown rice, quinoa but start with these two delicious staples that you can buy cheaply online. They will keep in your kitchen cupboard or pantry for a long time, so it makes sense to stock up. As well as delicious savoury vegetable dishes (like the ones in my book, The Alkaline 5 Diet – see #5 below), you can make tasty buckwheat porridge.
4. Vegetable Stock Cubes
Instead of buying expensive, GMO and preservative-laden sauces, create your own by starting with a vegetable stock cube base and adding herbs, spices and natural condiments. Rapunzel ones are good or Kallo if you’re in the UK. These are non-GMO, only contain natural ingredients and are very flavourful. These are so versatile and I use them in curries, soups, savoury rice and pasta dishes, or can even be had on their own in a mug of hot water as a warming afternoon pick-me-up instead of coffee.
5. The Alkaline 5 Diet
I might be biased here, but my book is excellent for cutting through the health misinformation, is simple to read and contains the 7-Point Framework for Optimum Health & Healing. It also has a 21-day meal plan with delicious, easy recipes, including smoothies and Hearty Cooked Fibre Meals that can be made with your staple grains and veg stock cubes above, along with vegetables and my specific spice blend for quick, delicious, healthy, alkaline meals that the whole family will love. The Alkaline 5 Diet is a great health and recipe book to have in your kitchen.
6. Fluoride-Free Toothpaste
Fluoride has long been known as a neurotoxin and can seriously harm your brain. It’s been linked with nervous system degeneration, Alzheimer’s, lowering IQ, ADHT and depression. It was finally officially classed as a dangerous neurotoxin in the world’s oldest and most prestigious medical journal, The Lancet in 2014. Do yourself a favour – switch immediately to fluoride-free toothpaste, which is great or your teeth without causing neuro-damage. I really like Nature’s Gate, Aloe Dent or Kingfisher if you’re in the UK.
7. Plant-Derived Minerals
Often times degenerative disease can stem from what you don’t eat (i.e. vitamin and mineral deficiencies), as well as from what you do eat – acidifying dead foods. Taking a good-quality food-state/plant-derived mineral supplement can be a great defence against this and vitamins are virtually useless without minerals. The nutrients are derived straight from plants, rather than synthetically manufactured or cultured. They are understood by the body as food and absorption and utilisation are far more effective than chemical-based supplements. Simply Naturals’ Sizzling Minerals are from a prehistoric deposit of plant humus that accumulated many years ago. Most supplements contain no more than 18 minerals, our bodies need 60, these have 75 in correct quantities for your body’s daily needs. These are the best you’ll find, at a highly affordable price too.
8. Alkaline Water Filter
With the water we get in our homes as it is these days, containing heavy metals, hormones and medical waste, fluoride (see #6) and many other toxins in it, it is important to use some kind of filter, otherwise your body acts as the filter and absorbs those toxins. Filtration systems can be as simple and inexpensive as an alkaline water jug or as sophisticated and expensive as a water ioniser. The Ultrastream water filter is a reasonably inexpensive solution (over the medium term) that is easy to install at home and effective in creating alkaline water that has amazing filtration, taste and mineral properties.
9. Dates
Dates are an amazingly sweet and tasty healthy snack and medjool dates are a lot like sticky toffees. They can be eaten on their own or in a smoothie, with almonds or walnuts for a delicious treat and are the basis of many raw vegan healthy desserts. When you want to eat cake or chocolate, eat some dates, when you want a quick sugar fix, eat some dates. They are nutrient and fibre-rich and will curb those sweet cravings a treat! Because they are low in fat, dates are great to eat in moderation if you are trying to lose weight without feeling deprived.
10. Apricot Kernels
Apricot seeds/kernels are one of the best sources of vitamin B17 (also known as amygdalin or laetrile), which has been proven to kill cancer cells without destroying the cancer victim’s health. I have met a good few number of people who’ve had cancer and swear by them and I take a small handful of apricot seed kernels daily as a preventative measure.
